The Farmhouse is just a few yards from the entrance to Sissinghurst Castle and its World famous gardens. We have our own parking area in front of the house and disabled access at the side of the house. Our south facing garden has well stocked borders and a large flat lawn where guests can enjoy afternoon tea, a game of croquet or watch the sunset.

There are some fantastic local walks to enjoy and many routes around the estate here to enjoy. Or how about a short stroll to a pub? The Milk House is a great pub just 20 minutes walk into the village of Sissinghurst. Or stroll across the fields to historic Three Chimneys pub (30 mins) or the historic market town of Cranbrook (45 mins). The walks change throughout the year and are particularly beautiful when the bluebells are out.

The National Trust owns a variety of places in Kent,Sussex and Surrey, including historic houses, famous gardens, castles, a lighthouse and a mill- reflecting the rich history of the area from medieval times to the 20th century.

There are numerous connections to famous names from politics, literature, horticulture and the arts, including Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell, Rudyard Kiplingat Bateman’s, Dame Ellen Terry at Smallhythe Place and Virginia Woolf at Monk’s House. All of these are within easy reach and many can be combined together for a great day out.

In addition to the properties owned by the National Trust we are 25 minutes from the beautiful gardens created by Chistopher Lloyd at Great Dixter or the award winning gardens at Pashley Manor or the childhood home of Anne Boleyn Hever Castle. A great day out for all of the family would be to drive down to the white cliffs of Dover and visit the fascinating Dover Castle and to combine this with a visit to the ancient  Canterbury Cathedral would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.

But there is more to Kent than gardens and castles…… it is The Garden of England and also the home of English Wine. Tenterden, Kent is the home of Chapel Down the multi-award winning producer of English Wines. Chapel Down offer fantastic tours and tastings at their beautiful winery and vineyard where there is also an excellent bistro restaurant.
